Creating a Kitchen for Living

This kitchen was completely transformed, focusing on functionality, aesthetics, and maximizing the homeowner's enjoyment of the space.

Upgraded Island: The island became a central hub of activity. A trash drawer, a tilt-out compartment for sponges and dishwashing tools, a roll-out drawer for easy access to everything underneath, and even a built-in drawer microwave for added convenience were incorporated.

Enhanced Functionality: A sleek 48-inch range replaced the cooktop and wall ovens, creating a more open feel and providing ample cooking power. Utensils and spices were strategically placed near the range for easy retrieval by any chef.

Smart Storage Solutions: The previously underutilized long bar was replaced with a pantry cabinet for essential storage items. Upper cabinets with glass fronts showcase treasured glassware and illuminate the space. Open shelves add a touch of style and provide additional storage with a light and airy feel. A dedicated wine storage area was even added.

Light & Bright Transformation: Dark cabinets were replaced with light-colored ones, and a stunning blue island was introduced as a bold focal point. This combination, along with the light-colored backsplash, creates a bright and inviting atmosphere that sparks creativity and inspires countless future gatherings.

This country kitchen was ready for a refresh! The homeowners desired a more modern and functional space with an updated color palette that complemented their existing beautiful wood flooring.

Creating a Dream Kitchen:

• Modern Makeover: All cabinets were replaced with stylish and functional options, incorporating a variety of organizers to maximize storage space.
• Pantry Powerhouse: The outdated pantry was transformed into two fully accessible and spacious pantry cabinets, providing ample storage solutions.

This charming 1950's ranch home presented a unique challenge: update a small, closed-off kitchen while maintaining the existing footprint. The homeowner desired a functional and open space perfect for cooking and showcasing her beloved Majolica and Arthur Court collections.

Maximizing Space:

Soffit Removal: Out went the oppressive soffit, allowing cabinets to reach the ceiling to add more storage and create a more spacious feel.

Smart Storage Solutions: A trash drawer replaced the bulky trash can, while concealed spice racks, utensil organizers, and pull-out drawers maximized cabinet functionality.

Expanded Hood Area: By extending the hood to cover the entire cooktop area, the space feels more open despite limited square footage.

Single Bowl Efficiency: Replacing the double bowl sink with a single, deep basin with a versatile Kohler Artifacts faucet increased functionality for both washing and cleanup. A clever under-sink tilt-out compartment keeps sponges and dishwashing essentials concealed and yet readily accessible.

Open Breakfast Nook: Upper cabinets over the peninsula were removed to create a visual connection with the breakfast nook. Functional cabinets with dedicated small appliance storage were strategically placed along the wall.

Display Worthy: The breakfast nook cabinets were transformed into a beautiful display area for the homeowner's treasured Majolica and Arthur Court pieces.

Light & Bright: Multiple recessed lights provided overall illumination, while under-cabinet lights ensured task visibility. The addition of decorative lighting above the breakfast nook, peninsula, and sink added a touch of elegance and ambiance.

A Touch of Personality: The stunning quartz countertop and patterned backsplash tile incorporated a beautiful color palette of white, gray, cream, and green, perfectly complementing the existing floor and the homeowner's beloved collections.

This bathroom was stuck in builder-grade purgatory - generic cultured marble countertops and boring 4x4 white tiles offered zero inspiration. It simply didn't reflect the vibrant personality of the teenager who called it hers. She craved a space that mirrored her growth, a place that sparkled with potential, just like her.

Enter my designer magic wand!

The once wasted space beneath the vanities was transformed into a haven of storage, complete with luxurious chrome and acrylic hardware that added a touch of grown-up glam. Bland mirrors were replaced with trendy round lighted ones, revealing a stunning butterfly wallpaper that added a whimsical touch. The real showstopper is the shower and tub. Gone is the dullness, replaced with shimmering opalescent tile that sparkles like a dream whenever she steps in.

The calming Sherwin Williams Reflection gray paint provided a perfect backdrop for the transitional chrome Delta Saylor faucets, adding a touch of sophistication. Luxurious new Velvet floor tiles and crisp white vanities completed the transformation. 

This isn't just a bathroom anymore; it is a personal sanctuary, a place where a young woman can prepare to take on the world, feeling confident and beautiful.

Enter the transformative power of design.

Gone are the browns and brass. A symphony of blues takes center stage, with Sherwin Williams Naval providing a dramatic base beautifully offset by the airy Rarified Air. Crisp white elements - the Velvet tiles, countertop, wainscoting, and crown molding - add a timeless elegance, grounding the bold color scheme.

Luxurious details elevate the experience. The mosaic shower floor and niche tiles, a captivating blend of greys and whites, provide a touch of visual intrigue. Chrome Delta Cassidy faucets and Kohler Artifacts accessories whisper traditional charm. Layered lighting, from recessed lights to stunning vanity lights and a weathered white beaded chandelier over the tub, creates a perfect ambience for relaxation.

This master bath is no longer a boring space. It's a sanctuary and a personal oasis where tranquility reigns supreme.

This once-dated kitchen was a functional mismatch for the family's needs. Craving a brighter, more modern space with optimized storage, the client enlisted my help. Gone is the cramped pantry, replaced by a sleek, roll-out equipped corner unit maximizing every inch. Two additional blind corner optimizers, a spice rack, and a double-bin trash drawer eliminate awkward reaching and kneeling. Full-access, soft-close drawers now grace the lowers, making every item easily accessible. Soaring cabinets topped with glass doors showcase cherished pieces, adding a touch of personality. While the island's footprint remained the same, relocating the microwave freed space for a stunning millwork hood above the new cooktop. Natural light dances across the space, amplified by layered recessed, under-cabinet, and glass cabinet lighting. The island's bold blue hue beautifully complements the adjacent family room, creating a cohesive yet distinct feel.

 
Limited storage in the vanity left the client feeling frustrated and cramped. Cabinetry was transformed into a sleek haven of drawers, maximizing every inch for convenient access. The bulky cultured marble tub, though charming, ate up precious space. It was replaced with a stunning freestanding tub, complete with a deck-mounted faucet for a touch of elegance. The shower received a gentle expansion, and built-in niches provided ample storage for essentials and a secure footing for shaving. Even the closet got a luxurious makeover! A new cabinet offered dedicated space for clothes, shoes, and handbags, along with a countertop for jewelry and glasses. A hidden gem? A pull-out laundry bin, making chores a breeze. Light played a starring role, with recessed lights, sconces, and a new lighted makeup mirror providing ample illumination for any task, while remaining dimmable for a calming bathtime ambiance. The beautiful new cabinet color adds a final touch of sophistication and green with envy-worthy style.

 
Laundry day used to be a battle for this active family. Baskets overflowed, reaching cleaning supplies was a contortionist act, and the harsh light felt more like an interrogation room than a laundry haven. The space was transformed into a storage haven! Cabinets stretched across the back wall, 18 inches deep for easy access over washer and dryer. The avid runner rejoiced at cubbies designed specifically for shoes and gear. Top-load woes became a distant memory with sleek front-load machines perched on pedestals. The mop sink, a relic of the past, made way for a new undermount sink and rollout storage, keeping cleaning supplies organized and hidden. Clothes fresh from the dryer now have a designated location on wall-mounted hooks. Harsh fluorescent lights were banished, replaced by dimmable recessed lights that bathe the space in a calming glow. The final touch? A serene blue, turning laundry day from a chore to a tranquil chore. Now, the family tackles laundry with smiles, not sighs.

This project beautifully showcases how functional cabinetry can transform everyday spaces. Working with the client to achieve this perfect blend of functionality and comfort was truly rewarding, and it reminds us that thoughtful design can truly make a difference in our homes.

This kitchen had potential, but its cramped layout and unused features hindered its functionality. The client envisioned a more open and inviting space that reflected her personal style. Determined to transform this dated space, the client entrusted me with the challenge of creating a kitchen that seamlessly integrated with the family room, maximized functionality, and exuded personality.

The transformation began by widening the kitchen doorway, expanding from a restrictive 6 feet to a spacious 13 feet. This instantly opened the layout and fostered a more connected feel with the family room. Gone was the unused bar, replaced by a sleek pantry tucked away in a nearby hallway. In its place, a majestic double oven cabinet took center stage, featuring a large single oven and a convenient Advantium oven above. A bulky peninsula gave way to a functional island, offering ample seating, a deep single-bowl sink with a clever sponge drawer, and hidden gems like a dishwasher and dual trash bins. A touch to activate faucet with a matching soap dispenser added a touch of modern convenience, while air switches controlled the garbage disposal and pendant lights, infusing a layer of tech-savvy magic. Every inch of this kitchen was meticulously designed for maximum functionality and style. Clever cabinetry optimizers ensured clutter-free zones for everything from stools and spices to oils and utensils. Holiday dishes found a comfortable home in a dedicated set of upper cabinets. The backsplash, adorned with an arabesque dance of color and shape, became a captivating focal point. A glass-doored beverage center proudly displayed cherished glasses and mugs, while the breakfast nook's new storage bench beckoned with an invitation for coffee and conversation. The once-dated brick fireplace found new life with Austin Stone and a unique mantle sourced from Canton, adding a touch of characterful charm. Even the laundry room received a makeover, boasting deeper cabinets, a handy bench, and a playful patterned tile underfoot, making chores a little more enjoyable. Layered lighting, from recessed fixtures to pendant drops and under-cabinet illumination, bathed the space in a warm and inviting glow.

This kitchen renovation is a dream come true for a family who loves to cook and entertain. Out went the dark, dated elements and in came a bright and functional space perfectly suited for their needs.

The dark oak cabinets and granite countertops were replaced with lighter finishes, creating a more open and airier feel. Open shelving with lighting was strategically placed to further enhance the sense of spaciousness. The refrigerator was relocated to a more convenient spot, eliminating the need to navigate around the island for access. The pantry was redesigned to maximize storage and accessibility, featuring roll-out drawers and adjustable shelves.

The small cooktop was replaced with a larger 36" model, perfectly positioned to take advantage of the natural light coming from the window.  A downdraft ventilation system ensures cooking fumes are whisked away efficiently. 

Rev-A-Shelf optimizers were added throughout the kitchen, maximizing storage space and keeping everything neatly organized and easy to reach. The oven was lowered for ergonomic use, and the microwave was relocated to the island to free up valuable counter space.

An extra-large trash drawer was installed in the island, perfect for easy disposal during food prep.  A single-bowl sink with a new faucet and dual soap dispensers offers ample space for cleaning, while a dedicated paper towel cubby keeps them conveniently close at hand.

Recessed lighting, under-cabinet lighting, glass cabinet lighting, under-shelf lighting, and pendant lighting were all incorporated into the design.  With dimmers on all the fixtures, the homeowner can create the perfect ambiance for any occasion.

This project transformed a tired kitchen, breakfast nook, laundry room, and bar into a cohesive and light-filled haven for entertaining and everyday living.

Out went the outdated cabinets with their scalloped details and the unused sitting area. Functional cabinetry with a transitional style now graces the space, offering ample storage and a more user-friendly layout. The cabinets even wrap around the corner into the breakfast nook, creating a more cohesive flow. The dark green walls and countertops were banished, replaced with a light and airy color scheme that reflects light and creates a sense of spaciousness.  The breakfast nook boasts beautiful glass doors, further enhancing the feeling of openness. The ceiling was raised to a uniform level, and the pantry was relocated to create a more open feel. 

All the appliances received an upgrade!  A powerful 48” rangetop with proper ventilation replaced the downdraft cooktop, while a built-in 42” refrigerator offers increased storage. The microwave was relocated to a convenient drawer in the island, and the dishwasher, trash compactor, and ovens were all updated to modern and efficient models.

Wood accents on the hood and lighting tie in seamlessly with the wood floors that now flow throughout the space.  A stunning natural stone accent tile adds a touch of drama at the rangetop and breakfast nook, while the light Quartz countertops with their beautiful movement add a touch of luxury.

The once tight and cramped laundry room is now a functional space. Extended depth cabinets above the sink and washer/dryer provide ample storage, while a new, larger sink with a convenient trash drawer makes laundry day a breeze. Fun patterned floor tiles add a touch of personality.

The small and dark bar is now a delightful beverage center.  A new sink and faucet cater to drink prep, while glass cabinetry and dedicated wine glass storage keep everything organized and stylish.  The same stunning Quartz countertop from the kitchen and beautiful antiqued mirror arabesque tiles complete the transformation.

The importance of lighting cannot be overstated. This renovation incorporates a layered lighting scheme with recessed lights, under-cabinet lights, and decorative lighting, all on dimmers. This thoughtful approach allows for the perfect ambiance, whether it's task lighting for food prep or a warm and inviting glow for entertaining.

This project is a testament to the power of thoughtful design and strategic updates.  The once dated and disconnected spaces are now a light-filled and functional haven, perfectly suited for the homeowner's needs.
